Our Story

Where Our Story Begins

Little Woods began with a simple idea, to create an early learning centre where childhood could feel like childhood.

A place that feels warm and familiar. Where children are known as individuals, families feel genuinely welcome, and educators have the time and space to build meaningful relationships with the children in their care.

The story behind Little Woods, however, began many years before its doors were ever imagined.

A Love for Education, Generations in the Making

Education has always been a part of my world. My parents have dedicated the past 26 years to building and nurturing daycares and schools, and I had the privilege of growing alongside them, watching an idea become a vision, and that vision grow into communities filled with children, families and educators.

I saw firsthand the love, patience and commitment that goes into creating a place where children can truly thrive. I watched my parents build not simply schools and early learning environments, but communities, places that generations of families could trust and feel connected to.

The vision for Little Woods was to create something smaller, more personal and deeply connected to its community, a place where children could spend their days exploring, creating, getting messy, asking questions and discovering the world at their own pace.

And eventually, that dream found a home in Glebe.

And So, Little Woods Was Born

The name Little Woods reflects exactly what we want childhood here to feel like: a little world of discovery.

A place inspired by nature, curiosity and the wonderfully unpredictable way children learn. Our approach is influenced by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and the belief that children are capable, curious individuals with their own ideas, voices and ways of understanding the world.

Our environments are intentionally created to invite exploration rather than simply entertain. We want children to wonder, experiment, build, imagine, create and sometimes make a glorious mess along the way.

A Little Community to Belong To

We are a small early learning community, and we want to protect the intimacy that comes with being a smaller service. We want to know our children and their families. We want our educators to feel valued and supported. And we want families to feel that they are genuinely part of the Little Woods community rather than simply attending a childcare centre.

We believe some of the most important parts of childhood are found in the smallest moments, such as friendships forming over play, muddy hands in the garden, a favourite story read for the hundredth time, a new word, a brave first try, or the excitement of discovering something completely new.

These are the moments we want Little Woods to be filled with.

Where Childhood Belongs

A place filled with childhood.

A place where little people can have big ideas.

A place where families belong.

And, most importantly, a place where children can simply be children.
